Crock Pot Breakfast
1 cup silvered or chopped almonds
1 cup pearl barley
2 quarts water
11/2 to 2 cups chopped dried mixed fruit
1 cup raisins
¼ cup chopped dates
1 t. salt
½ t. ground coriander
Toast almonds in a 350 oven for about 8 minutes. Start pearl barley in 1quart water on the stove while crock pot is heating on high. When barley comes to a boil and crock pot is hot, pour into crock pot with remaining 1 qt. water. Cover, lower heat to low. Fifteen minutes before serving add the fruit, raisins, dates and salt and coriander. Place in serving dish and sprinkle with toasted almond pieces. |
